Face Values

This is a study of human emotions and conditions. The portraits by themselves explore this world of mood and feeling, belonging to no particular age or race. The prose-poems were specifically written for each picture drawn by my friend and tutor from my college days, Bill Metcalf. The picture came first and Bill then wrote what he saw in the face. The obvious Christian theme throughout has resulted in the exhibition being shown in places as diverse as the Fairfield Halls in Croydon to Durham Cathedral. - View Gallery

Portraits

Portraits are one of my main art subjects. You will find here examples of the many I have worked on over the past years. I can do a commission to suit the request ie. size - colour - sepia etc. Although it is desirable to meet the subject very often commissions come via the internet with a digital photograph from which I can work. Prices vary according to requirements but they start at £75 per subject. - View Gallery

Life Study

I have loved the idea of a face merging with the background leaving some finer details to the imagination of the viewer. I have introduced this technique into my portraits as well which mainly are done from photos taken by me or supplied by the individual. - View Gallery

Illustration

Much of this work has been produced in pen and ink for reasons of economic reproduction. In this way the illustrations can be minimised to a very small size without losing definition. I often produce a collage incorporating the story line of the chapter. - View Gallery

Animals and Birds

Living in various countries certainly inspired me to try my hand at wild life. Whilst In Africa there was plenty of scope and Australia presented me with many unique species. I particularly enjoy bird studies and I have concentrated more on these in Europe. I tend to approach even wild animals and birds as portraits. - View Gallery
